Calibration of Barographs

BAS is approved by the British Gliding Association to calibrate all types of barographs and flight recorders.   Calibration is carried out against a mercury micro manometer and a full certified calibration chart is provided.  It will normally be in feet, but if you need a metric calibration, let me know.   A specimen calibration chart can be seen here.

The charge for calibration is £15.00 per unit.   There is a further charge of £6.00 to return the unit/units by Special Delivery.   The European rate is Euro 30,-- for the calibration and return by insured registered air mail  The turn round time for a calibration is normally within a week.   I am prepared to carry out a calibration on a "while you wait" basis, providing an appointment is made, for a £15 surcharge

For IGC and FAI Badge purposes, mechanical barographs require calibrating each year, while for IGC approved flight recorders the interval is two years.   If the barograph/flight recorder is only used for Competition purposes under BGA Rules then the calibration interval extends to five years.   Recorders used in overseas competitions are required to be calibrated to the two year IGC cycle.

Units for calibration should be sent to:
